NiKEYA Exhibition

— Light Through Black —

Capturing the passage of time in stillness, through light.

Held at Kuroshoin within the historic Ninnaji Temple in Kyoto, this exhibition centers on photographs taken at Ninnaji and also features images of chefs and artisans encountered through the production of the YouTube channels FOOD☆STAR and THE PROCESS.

The passage of time within each place.

The focused gaze of people devoted to their craft.

Skills passed down through generations, and light that exists only in that moment.

Through photography and a selection of moving-image works, the exhibition presents the world as seen through the eyes of NiKEYA.

KUROSHOIN AT NINNAJI TEMPLE

Located within the Goten Palace Gardens of Ninnaji Temple, Kuroshoin is a traditional shoin-style reception hall situated to the west of the Shinden.

The building was relocated and adapted from the residential hall of the former Yasui Monzeki temple in Hanazono, Kyoto, and was completed in 1909.

Its interior comprises six rooms, including the Bamboo Room and the Autumn Grass Room. The fusuma sliding-door paintings throughout the building were created by the renowned Japanese artist Insho Domoto.

Within this historic and tranquil setting, contemporary photography and moving images come together.
